For the love of skiing
The boys finally started their skiing camp last Sunday and I have to admit that it is worth every single penny and effort that we are going to be putting into it for the next four more weeks.
We have a 5:30am wake-up call, out of the house by 6:45am, be at the slopes by 8am (9am mountain time as we're crossing a time zone to get to our destination) and it takes us about another 30 minutes to get forms signed and the kids fully geared. Classes run from 10 to 12, they have an hour lunch break, then back at it again from 1 to 2. The rest of the afternoon is left for them to go at it on their own while this momma sits back at the chalet reading, writing and doing whatever I can to keep myself occupied.
It's such a joy to watch the kids do their things in a group where some of the skiers have been on the slopes since they were 2 or 3. K has only skied a few times last winter and D only received a one hour lesson on New Year's Day! The one thing I loved is that their instructor thought that they have both been skiing for much longer as they were at par in skill level as the other kids in the group.
One of the scariest things for me and leaving them to do their thing is this lift. K isn't tall enough to reach and pull down the safety bar so he relies on his big bro to do that for him. Also, these lifts are just plain fast. The boys just have to move fast and be at the right spot to load themselves right into it.
